It took us close to 8 hours to get to this surfing capital. It only takes 5 hours by car on regular days. Ours was a pain. My butt hurt and I had to stretch a lot to reach our destination.
It was a long weekend – a Holy Week – when we decided to take this road trip. We booked a place just a stone’s throw from the beach. The Airbnb photos were amazing. The beach looked perfect. The white surf and the blue sky were an invitation to relax by the beach, with book in hand.
When we got there, this place welcomed us. First thought: that’s a lot of jagged rocks! Since it was low-tide, you can see these sharped-edged rocks protruding. You need a foot protection to walk pass these obstacles to get to the part where you can swim.
Swimming was no longer an option. We later found out that there was a better beach where surfers go. Our beach while picturesque was not fit for swimming or wading.
Still, we spent 3 days cooking fish and other local food we bought from the nearby public market. The long road trip was worth it.
